My father was an ironworker, and like the man in this video, I worked as an Ironworker as well during summers while in high school and college, and for a full year before entering law school. This narrator’s story, including the story of injuries and deaths, occurred in my circle of fellow Ironworkers as well. My father fell, and I would probably have been injured or even killed had I not gotten out early. But it was an exhilarating experience for a young man, and great money. I completed apprenticeship school over the course of 3 years while also attending college, and became a journeyman Ironworker [East St. Louis Local #392 International Association ].
